Causes Of Teen Stress
Guide Your Teen To Success!

Article

Today, more than ever before, there are multiple causes of teen stress. It seems every American, in particularly, these days is battling emotional problems, from anxiety disorders to severe depression.

All ages are at risk. High school students are increasingly dealing with high, unhealthy levels of stress that were recently reserved for only the older working force.

Whether one looks to the horrific school shootings or the high suicide rates, he or she can tell that teen issues aren't as simple as they used to be.

The influences of television, film, and even video games may play a role – but it is likely a combination of many factors, primarily family dynamics and pressure in academics, that make up the major causes of teen stress.

Whatever the case, the causes of teen stress must be genuinely addressed – and the sooner the better.

The good news of the day is the associated dire consequences of teen stress can be successfully prevented.

So what are some of these causes of teen stress and how can we begin to control them?

  • College admissions is wildly competitive these days. Even some of the most qualified students don't get into the universities of their choice. Thus, there is an inordinate amount of pressure placed on high school students to do well in the classroom. This can lead to all kinds of symptoms related to stress.
  • Normal teen angst! Every teenager will have to deal with a certain amount of stress. The adolescent years are often confusing and hardly anyone remembers them as easy. So let's not forget about the factor of regular hormones and peer pressure and how that affects teens.

Perhaps your teen is dealing with some of the above issues. The key is to stay in tune to their needs and respond to symptoms quickly in order to minimize any negative impact on the mind and body.
