Depression and anger are two strong emotions that tend to come hand in hand, and can severely inhibit your potential. Unfortunately, people living in the United States are increasingly suffering from emotional problems, to the point where there are commercials about anti-depressant medicines on television around the clock.
If you're battling depression, you may feel like you are a slave to your intense feelings and that there is simply no way out. But you are not a prisoner... you just feel like you are! Once you can understand and integrate this simple concept, you will be on your way to peace, joy, and happiness once again. You really can take back control of your life and smile again. However, in order to get yourself back on the path of experiencing passion and prosperity, you will have to take some action steps. Depression and anger have little to no benefits for your life and they aggressively work against you; they corner you every time you entertain a hope or a dream. You may have an inner dialog in your brain: “You can't get that job, don't even apply. You're not qualified enough.” Or perhaps it's a bit different than that: “You deserve that job, but you're not going to get it because somebody who knows somebody will get it instead of you.” That latter message to yourself is one of anger. But depression and anger are linked at the hip, and they tend to take turns. Apathy and passionate outrage are both enemies to your happiness. So how can you stop them from ruling your life – or better yet, ruining it? Well, the short answer is: replace thoughts and feelings of depression and anger with thoughts and feelings of satisfaction and gratitude for every single day of your life. Easier said than done! If you could simply flip a switch and completely transform your attitude, then you'd probably be the happiest person in town, or in the world for that matter. Depression and anger are like parasites and it can take hard work, patience and time to fully rid them from your life. If you want a little guidance, read “Peace, Power and Plenty” by Dr. Orison Swett Marden. This exquisite book will remind you that you are given everything you need in life and that happiness is your birthright – not something out of reach that you don't deserve. Dr. Marden could have led a life of depression, as he grew up a poor and mistreated orphan, but instead he chose not to give up. He eventually became the first self-help author of America and although he died in the 1920's, you can still listen to his words with the Leadership Series For Successful Living. Indeed, you can hear five of his classic books online by simply downloading them. So if you're thirsty for some motivation, give this amazing leadership audio series a try.
