Help Low Self Esteem
Conquer Negative Self Talk

Article

Do you want to help low self esteem so that you can go out into the world with confidence that you can achieve your goals and be the person you want to be?

It seems we all suffer from a variety of insecurities, to varying degrees, that inhibit us from finding true success in life.

Leadership Quote

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do."

Developing a healthy self esteem almost seems like a magical art that some of us understand and others don't. But there really are clear-cut steps you can take to get there.

You don’t have to settle for your current circumstance, or become a victim of your environment.

You can make a personal choice to overcome the obstacles in your life and as a result, you will finally know the person who is, your best self.

Here are some tips on how to help low self esteem. What can you do to start feeling better about yourself? Well, let's take a hint or two from the late Dr. Orison Swett Marden. If anyone would have had a reasonable excuse to grow up with low self-worth, it was him.

Marden was raised a mistreated orphan and he bounced around from foster home to foster home. However, not only did he rise from his horrible circumstances, but he thrived – in school, business, and then as a writer.

Dr. Marden excelled at Boston University and Harvard and found a lot of success in several business endeavors (though he had a few setbacks).

But his real calling was the literary world and that's where he became determined to help low self esteem children and adults throughout America.

Before he began writing, the New Thought movement had yet to make it to America. Many Americans at that time were under the false impression that if they were born poor or with limited abilities, they were simply destined to live poor and limited lives.

However, if Dr. Marden had assumed this position, he wouldn't have ever founded the American success movement in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Fortunately, he didn't assume such nonsense – he was determined that his own will power could guide him through life and that whatever he wanted to achieve, he could be successful at it.

In his book “Peace, Power and Plenty,” this idea is beautifully reinforced. It's one of his more spiritually grounded books and it focuses on a seemingly dualistic concept: that goals for the future are an absolute necessity, yet one must have a level of satisfaction with him or her self in the here and now in order to have the confidence to press on and achieve their dreams.

This powerful idea was well-received in America and it's no wonder Dr. Marden published about two books a year, as well as a magazine, to wide acclaim during his 30-year writing career.

So how do you help low self esteem? Be satisfied with yourself, while growing as a person every day toward an ideal you've established.

Obviously, this is not an easy thing to do for many, and it's understandable if you'd like a bit more guidance.
