How To Beat Depression
Master Thoughts For Better Health

Article

Do you know how to beat depression? Is it even possible? If you're struggling with daily thoughts of hopelessness and despair, it can seem an intimidating prospect to tackle your emotions head on and finally rid your life of the negative ones.

Luckily, there are plenty of people who remember what it was like to be in your shoes. They were consistently unhappy once, dreading every day, hating their work, hating themselves, and apathetic – if not outright fearful – about their future.

Leadership Quote

"The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but reveal to them their own."

- Benjamin Disraeli

Fortunately, they found what worked for them. They picked themselves up by their own bootstraps and forced themselves to press forward.

These people found out how to beat depression and they now lead lives of joy and peace. They're no long wishing that tomorrow will never come, they now look forward to tomorrow. You can be like them.

Certainly you have a big journey ahead of you, but because you're reading this article right now you're already on the right track and there's no reason you should turn back.

Here are some basic steps on how to beat depression.

  1. Acknowledge you have a problem
No problem can be solved if we're in denial of it. Whether we have a drinking problem or we spend too much money or we're just plain depressed – or all of the above – we must admit that we need help.

This is not a sign of weakness, but instead a sign of tremendous bravery. All these steps of how to beat depression that follow are meaningless if we aren't truly willing to change. So if you're ready to be happy again, read on.

  2. Reach out.
Now that you acknowledge that you need help, you must ask for it. Talk to your family, friends, and/or a counselor. A professional in the medical community can be your best ally, as he or she will understand your symptoms and be able to give you the tools and resources to cope with them.
  3. If you take away any single lesson from this article, it should be that your thoughts guide your life.
Dr. Orison Swett Marden, one of the great writers and the first self-help “guru” of 1900's America, gave this message to his readers in his book “Why Grow Old?” In it, he expressed the simple concept that our life reinforces our thoughts.

In other words, if we think we are going to start getting gray hairs at age 35, we will. If we think we're going to die by 65, chances are good we will.

Similarly, if we think we're going to live a long life – the odds that we will increase. Certainly you can’t simply think and control the universe with your thoughts alone, but that's not to discredit Dr. Marden's theory.

He simply held that our mind is the most powerful part of our body and fortunately, we can control it. He should know – as he rose out of poverty to become one of the most prominent leaders of the New Thought movement in America.

If you want to listen to Dr. Marden's other great books in a convenient, easy to download audio format, then you can download them with the Leadership Series For Successful Living. See if Dr. Marden can inspire you to start thinking differently today and ultimately change your life!

Obviously these tips for how to beat depression can't be accomplished overnight. But they're a good starting point.

Hopefully you feel better prepared to confront your depression and kiss it goodbye forever.
