Are you wondering how to deal with depression? If you are suffering from overwhelming stress, anxiety and depression, you may feel as if there is literally no hope. Here's how to deal with depression... As mentioned earlier, simply asking for help is the first step. So now that we've done that, what next? Help can come in many forms: seeing a therapist and/or taking medication can make a huge difference in your life. However, there are other things you can do to help battle your mental anxiety. For example, a nutritional diet and eight hours of sleep every night can improve your physical wellbeing and thus your emotional wellbeing too. However, sometimes when we're depressed, we find it difficult to control our daily habits and ultimately our lives. Sometimes we need to hear a message of hope that truly inspires us; a message that we can connect with; that we can believe in and integrate into the very fabric of our lives. We need to hear that we are in control of how we feel and that we can do something about our stress related issues. That message comes from none other than the late Dr. Orison Swett Marden. Dr. Marden certainly could have justified a life of depression and hopelessness: he was born a poor boy and raised a mistreated orphan. However, young Marden was determined to not give in to his unfortunate circumstances. As a result, he grew up to be one of the most acclaimed authors of his time (the 19th and early 20th century). After graduating from Harvard, he picked up writing and published a series of self-help books and a magazine entitled Success. In Marden’s book, “Stepping Stones,” he taught that if we don't have an ideal for ourselves in our heads, there is no reason to put much effort into life. If we are satisfied with ourselves, or so sure we're doomed to unhappiness, there is little motivation to take advantage of opportunities and take the steps toward success and happiness in life. Dr. Marden's core belief was that no matter how ordinary a person, he or she only needed sheer will power in order to achieve greatness. But what gives that person such strong will? A goal! An ideal they want to eventually become! Without that, we have nothing. So if you're struggling with how to deal with depression, seek outside help if your symptoms seems too overwhelming.
