Since you're reading this article, that says that you recognize that there is something happening that you just aren’t quite sure how to remedy.

It's good that you recognize stress as a problem in your life.

Too often, people simply accept stress as a reality of life. How else are you going to have the motivation to complete a project? Stress, right? That's the kind of thinking that sets you down the wrong path.

Feeling stressful all the time is not unavoidable!

No, no, no! Stress is not a necessity and in fact, is a hindrance to your emotional and physical wellbeing, rendering you less successful at your job or any other area in your life.

Learning how to deal with stress effectively is a skill everyone should take some time learn, and it’s different for every individual.

Stress stops your brain from functioning clearly and forces you to live in fear and worry, rather than hope and optimism. The physical effects of stress can eventually become life threatening if not properly dealt with.

So, if you're convinced that stress is an enemy to everything you want in life – here's some ideas for how to deal with stress effectively:

  • Have fun!
It seems a little too good to be true, but fun is the best antidote for stress. If you're not having fun, then you're not living your life to the fullest.

It's okay to just relax and socialize and indulge a little. Moreover, it's necessary. So, take a bubble bath; go see a movie with your husband or wife; go have some drinks with a group of friends; go DO whatever it is that you enjoy doing.

  • It's okay to ask for help
If you feel like a prisoner of your own mind, and have difficulty ridding your life of stress even when you are trying to relax, then it might be a good idea to seek professional help.

Talking to a therapist and/or taking some medicine can help you re-focus so you can best determine how to deal with stress in your life. So, if you need help, seek it out immediately.

  • Read Dr. Orison Swett Marden
In his book “The Optimistic Life,” Dr. Marden teaches that a person who leads a cheerful, energetic life is a person who has faith in their future and thus will achieve whatever goals they make for themselves.

Dr. Marden was the first self-help guru in America and his books from the 20th century are just as relevant today, if not more. He asserted that developing positive thinking habits was the key to happiness and success.

Most anxiety, stress and depression related issues stem from the person’s own negative self-talk. Dr. Marden is someone who can help you change the record that keeps playing those negative thoughts over and over in your mind.

You deserve to rid your life of stress, which is often a result of our imaginations running wild about all the negative consequences that could greet us if scenario A or B happens or doesn't happen.

Luckily, you can listen to Marden’s most powerful work in the Leadership Series For Successful Living.

Hopefully now your realize that there are many high quality tools and resources available to you, which can better inform and support you as you learn how to deal with stress, and find new peace of mind to help you move on with your life.
