Too many still underestimate the importance of college education in our society. They see it as either out of reach or so expensive and time consuming that it’s just not worth the effort. However, a good well rounded education is your best bet to achieving great financial success – a degree makes it more realistic that you will get a good job and ensure that your future is a comfortable one.
With a college education, you might someday be able to afford that big house, luxury car – or more importantly, you might even change your entire family tree for future generations. With this in mind, perhaps you're missing the boat? Surely, young adults (and older ones too) take strides to achieve a higher education for simple and practical reasons. There's certainly nothing wrong with that. While University life is not for everybody, for those who find it suitable and who also take advantage of it, it can be one of the most, if not the most invaluable experience they have. The importance of college education doesn't just have to do with the bottom line: the ability to earn a good paycheck down the road. Anybody who's ended up in a line of work they love, but that doesn't necessarily pay very well, after attending four or more years of college will tell you that! No, the importance of college education is far more important. Time spent in pursuing one’s graduate studies provides students with a unique opportunity spread their wings, discover their likes and dislikes, become acquainted with other people and culture that are different from their own. This time in their young adulthood is formative and their experiences during college in many ways helps prepare them for the rest of their lives. In this respect the importance of college education cannot be overrated. Everyone should be encouraged to take full advantage of this unique chance to experiment with different interests and gain in-depth knowledge about almost any subject they want – often without having to work full-time, due to family generosity or government scholarships. What could be better than experiencing this special time devoted to personal discovery and learning? They say knowledge is power and anyone who's learned a new piece of information and used it to help benefit themselves or others can tell you this. Dr. Orison Swett Marden, a leading thinker of 20th century America, was an advocate of education. He truly understood the magic and importance of college education. As a poor boy who overcame great obstacles to eventually graduate with degrees at both Boston and Harvard University, and who then went on to become one of histories most important self-help authors, he’s worth learning more about.
