Leadership Games
Have Fun In Pursuing Leadership

Article

Leadership games are just one way to help develop leadership skills. Everybody loves a good game and we often learn when we're having lots of fun.

Whether you're young or old, sometimes the best way to grasp a concept or develop a skill is through play!

So, if you're trying to encourage leadership from your students, your children, your group members, or your employees, then you may want to try a game.

There are lots of games out there that help us learn different concepts and practice different skills.

Leadership really is an art form – it's not some elusive quality that only some of us possess, it just takes lots of practice to develop strong leadership skills.

Strangely, this isn't something that you might believe off the cuff. However, the late Dr. Orison Swett Marden sure did.

Dr. Marden was one of the greatest leaders of his time – during the early 1900's. Although he grew up in poverty and was abused as a young child, he escaped his horrible circumstances by graduating from Harvard and pursuing a successful business career.

But it was in writing that he really made his long-lasting imprint on society. When he began publishing his classic self-help books, like “Conquest of Worry” for instance, he also began changing America. He invented the “Success” movement and inspired millions to follow their dreams, just as he did.

One of his main points was that we all needed to be more assertive and confident in life and that if we resigned ourselves to only become followers and observers, we'd never get anywhere.

Marden was a strong advocate of utilizing leadership games! So, let's get to it. What are the various leadership games out there?

Well, it's difficult to just give broad suggestions for leadership games, because every age group will benefit from different games.

The key is to choose a game where everyone gets the chance to lead and is giving the opportunity to rise above their own expectations!

There are many resources on and offline that can help you out here. There are games for children, for adults, and for different kinds of professions. So you must think about them in their context.

For instance, a group of middle school students certainly won't learn leadership skills in the same way that employees at a major law firm would! But leadership is a skill we all should learn regardless.
