Leadership Goals For Success

Article

Quality leadership goals are key to your ability to develop and nurture a team of future leaders. The more leaders you have on your team, the greater your ability to grow and expand your business.

So how do you make a priority list of what needs to be done? First, it's important to have a firm grasp on the many different roles and talents each person has.

Each person has a unique ability to lead and contribute as a leader in their own way.

For example, there is usually a person in charge who plans the event or project or tasks and then direct others to implement the plan.

However, there are a number of others who help too – either to delegate power, or micromanage the job. It's crucial to understand that leadership goals trickle down from the top to the bottom; they don't just sit up at the top.

This is good news for the leader, as they won't feel overburdened with the weight of responsibility if he takes time to share the burden and as a result, share the glory when the plan succeeds.

Let's talk about leadership goals in a more specific sense, because you probably need some more practical, straightforward advice to get going.

As a leader, your job is essentially to:

  • Inform – make goals and steps to accomplishing those goals clear
  • Inspire – create motivation to accomplish those goals
  • Direct – give directions

You can't simply give a motivational speech or only give orders. You have to do all of the above, in order to be an effective leader.

Need some more advice? Orison Swett Marden, the founder of the self-help movement in America in the late 1800's, was committed to teaching people the tools of leadership and success.

In his classic book “An Iron Will,” he taught that sheer desire and determination were key to achieving greatness. This is an important message for all leaders, because the foundation of a good leader is persistence and will power.

Keep in mind that leadership doesn't just stop at the work place. It is integral to all areas of your life – at home, at work, in the area of relationships, finances, career, spirituality, etc.

Luckily, you can listen to almost Dr. Marden's most important books, including “An Iron Will”, in an audio format. With the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can download the series of audiobook, ebooks and workbooks instantly online!

Dr. Marden may have died in the 1920's, but his message is still as relevant as ever. So give him a try and see how he can help you shape your leadership goals, as well as your goals for living a more fulfilling life.
