Living With Depression
It’s Not An Option

Article

Is living with depression getting worse or becoming unbearable to you or a loved one? We all deal with occasional bouts of depression, but some people have a more seriously chronic problem.

The causes may vary from genetics to the loss of a loved one to clocking in at a job you hate every day – or a combination of several things.

Regardless of the circumstances no one should have to go through life with feelings of anxiety and stress overwhelming their self esteem.

No one should be living with depression for an extended period of time.

As you are probably well aware by now, living with depression is a pretty miserable way to live. So what can you do about it?

You may feel helpless and hopeless and completely apathetic about changing your life. But all you have to do right now is ask for help and you will be on the road to overcoming this difficult obstacle. Yes, it really is possible, and you really can do it!

First, talk to your loved ones. Likely, there are people who care about you and if you express your anxieties, doubts, and fears about life, they will listen and offer you their support and assistance.

It's probably best that you take this approach a step further, and talk to a professional in the medical community if you feel you require that level of support.

Maybe you've never liked the idea of therapy, but the fact is therapy is quite common these days and it is nobler to seek outside help than to resign yourself to living with depression.

There are things you can do now, on your own, to help alleviate some of the tension you are feeling in your life.

Eat right, sleep enough, volunteer at a local charity group, take time off to just think and focus on what matters most to you.

All of these tasks, while they may be mechanical for you at first, can affect your emotional wellbeing in a positive way.

Fortunately, there might be a different sort of prescription that can do just the trick to get you back on track. It might be helpful to read a few self-help books written by the late Dr. Orison Swett Marden.

His “Every Man A King” is an especially inspiring book for those who suffer from depression, as it teaches that we are in control of our thoughts, both positive and negative, and what we think determines our destiny.

With the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can download Marden's most insightful teachings online.

Why should you care what Dr. Marden had to say almost a century ago? Well, he was the classic success story himself, coming from nothing to seizing the day and making something of himself, despite his dismal environment.

In addition, he had a flair for the written word; his hopeful message might be just what you need to get your life in order. Living with depression isn't your destiny.
