So how can we strike a balance between the two skill? It's sometimes hard to understand the difference between being a manager vs a leader, and to then know when to apply each unique skill.

But the truth is that while the phrase “management vs leadership” seems to pit the two skills against each other, they really can't exist on their own – you need leadership in order for management to work, and you need management in order for the leadership to be meaningful.
So, let's get to it!
Which should come first: leadership or management? Leadership is clearly the predecessor – it is the leader who establishes the overall mission of a project or company and thus determines the direction.
Management kicks in as the people are being led; it's the nuts and bolts and details that management must address. Without management, there is no actual execution and the goal can never be achieved.
Essentially, the goal is defined by the leader and then ultimately achieved by the manager. And often, as mentioned earlier – it's not really a management vs leadership ordeal – typically, the leader is the manager! The roles and job descriptions inevitably overlap.
If you're struggling with understanding management vs leadership, there are some tools out there you can use. In order to learn how to achieve success in your life and your business, you should really seek out and utilize the quality programs that are available to you.
A lot of managers, just manage – they don’t lead. In other words, they allow themselves to be “task masters”.
It’s as if they are content with just being an order taker. They get their orders, and then they give the same orders to their team – uncut and unvarnished, just hard and fast orders. How exciting is that?
One particular program is designed to teach you how to use the resources you already have within and apply them to your personal and professional life. And indeed, the concepts of management and leadership don't just exist in the business world.
In other words, while you must have inspiration and motivation to achieve success in your life – whether at home or at work, you also have to be disciplined enough to put forth the effort and time to truly accomplish your goals.
