Personal Development Coaching
Learning From The Master

Article

Personal development coaching sounds a lot more complicated than it is. All it really represents is a person’s desire to learn, grow and improve. Life can be difficult and sometimes we can gain a great deal by using new tools and resources.

Many people are afraid to admit they need help. But this is unfortunate, as it is those who actively seek out advice and then promptly act on their newfound knowledge who are the successful, happy people in life.

Sadly, too many do not take it upon themselves to seek out advice, or even accept it when it is freely offered. They seem more content to continue on alone, and as a result lead a miserable life.

So is a life coach someone you could use right now? Maybe - maybe not. But you should at least consider it with some sincerity; otherwise you might miss out on a great opportunity for self-improvement.

Therapists are pretty common these days, but with personal development coaching, your life can be more thoroughly balanced.

Just as a personal trainer would motivate you to work out, so will a life coach motivate you to work toward your dreams – and begin living life to the fullest.

Perhaps it still doesn't seem an appealing proposition to you. So, why not ease into the process. Self-help material can be very beneficial to get your started.

The self-help authors of today could definitely be defined as an element of personal development coaching. But there's really only one who is worth reading closely. That man is Dr. Orison Swett Marden, and he actually started the entire self-help movement back in the late 1800’s.

Dr. Marden rose out of virtually nothing to become one of the nation's leading authors. He founded the success movement in America and was determined – in the dozens of classic books he published – to help get the down and out boy or girl, up on their feet and following in the footsteps of the most successful and wealthy people among them.

Dr. Marden had a core philosophy: that our “will” meant more than our natural talent, IQ, and charm. All we have to do is want it bad enough, and we will realize our dreams.

This is a powerful concept and one that is illustrated especially well in Dr. Marden's “The Victorious Attitude,” which teaches readers that if they act like they're somebody, they will certainly become somebody.

So if you're not quite ready for personal development coaching in an up-close-and-personal way, why not give Dr. Orison Swett Marden a try? He may just give you the confidence boost you need!

Thanks to technology, you can easily access Dr. Marden's powerful teachings. The famous author may not be alive today, but you can listen to five of his greatest books online in the Leadership Series For Successful Living.
