Personal Philosophy Of Education
Article
Do you have a personal philosophy of education? If you don't, it might be a good idea to develop one.
When you hear the word “education,” what do you think of? Do you think of the classroom? Well, if that's all that comes to mind, then your philosophy is probably a bit too narrow.

In Dr. Orison Swett Marden's inspiring book “The Hour of Opportunity,” the author asserts that every single hour of one's life is important.
The decisions we make on a daily basis, from the most mundane to the most alarming, will have consequences – whether we realize them or not.
The fact of the matter is, until technology advances enough so that we can build a time machine, an hour that has passed can never return to us. We never will have opportunity to relive our past.
Thus, Dr. Marden's personal philosophy of education was that every opportunity we have to learn about the world and better ourselves is vital.
In “The Hour of Opportunity,” Dr. Marden called on his readers to take advantage of every moment and to not expect success and happiness to come later, but to expect it in the right here and now.
If we are not happy with our lives today, we probably won't be happy with our lives tomorrow.
All we have is the present moment from which to learn and grow. His philosophy of education was to never stop learning and growing, ever!
By taking on this same personal philosophy of education, we will no longer allow ourselves to do anything only halfway. We won't want to teach our children only half of an important lesson, and we will no longer accept “good enough” as good enough.
Instead, we'll want to embrace every single hour of our lives with absolute enthusiasm, and suddenly we'll understand the decisions we make today will prepare us for whatever opportunities that will greet us later.
But who was this Dr. Marden? Dr. Marden was a walking success story and he was intent on sharing his own personal formula for happiness with Americans in his many self-help books, which he published in the late 19th century.
Despite his poor upbringing, he ended up with a degree from Harvard University and an incredible resume as both a businessman and self-help author (the latter of which was a title that had not yet been established).
His personal triumphs are inspiring in their own right, but it is Dr. Marden's eloquent way with words that separates him from the pack.
If you're tired of waiting for your future to come around and you want to start forming your path to the future you deserve, why not give a listen to Dr. Marden’s timeless advice?
