Personal Stress Management
Tips & Tools To Tackle Stress

Article

Personal stress management will vastly improve the quality of your life. If you have a job or a family or are ever involved in any kind of situation, essentially, you are bound to encounter stress.

Even the happiest among us occasionally get worried about something.

This is okay. But it's also important that you recognize when stress has become too overpowering in your life, and in those cases you must take the steps to alleviate the stress you are experiencing.

Anxiety, stress, and depression often go together, but whatever you're suffering from, you may feel that you're too paralyzed to do much about it. This is when it's crucial that you ask for help!

A friend, a doctor, a self-help book, or preferably all of the above, can give you just the kick you need to get your life back on track.

By reading this article, you are in a sense asking for help. So here are some tips for personal stress management that you can consider, while you also consider the bigger steps you may want to take to minimize stress in your life.

Personal stress management tips:

  • Just say no.
While the phrase “just say no” was told to kids in elementary and high school who were at risk of alcohol and drug abuse, you must learn to say no as well!

No to responsibility you can't handle. No to deadlines you can't make. If you're a yes man or woman, you're likely an unhappy man or woman.

What have you really been rewarded with by staying at the office late or making a bunch of cup cakes for the school's bake sale? Sometimes you can't do everything all at once. It's okay to recognize this. In fact, it's necessary! Of all the personal stress management tips listed here, these will the most effective.

  • Morning time is the best time.
Take a time out every morning to gather yourself and your thoughts. Write in a journal. Meditate. Pray. Do some yoga.

If you can learn to engage in a little rest and relaxation and soul-searching every time you wake up, you will be better prepared to take on the day's challenges calmly and without getting too stressed out about them.

  • Find the root of the problem.
You can't really say goodbye to stress if you don't know what's causing it. Evaluate your life. What causes you the most anxiety? It might be helpful to talk to a friend or a therapist about it. Once you've determined what the primary source of your stress is, you can effectively address it head on.

Hopefully these personal stress management tips will be of the utmost service to you. If you want more tips like these, why not consider reading some of the late great Dr. Orison Swett Marden's self-help books?
