Physical Effects Of Stress
Act Now For A Healthier Life

Article

Are you aware of the physical effects of stress? So few of us are. That's because we’ve been taught to believe that our daily stress is just part of life, a given, something that everyone has to deal with, something that is unavoidable.

If you feel you're constantly under pressure and you lead a life that's full of hassle and worry, then you are indeed at risk of suffering from negative health effects that result from stress. So, take a step back and look at your life. Is it a healthy one?

Don't just think about the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. Or the amount of sleep you get. You must examine every aspect of your life and your daily routine.

It's not normal to feel constantly anxious about your life. Maybe you're a successful businessperson or maybe you get applauded for excelling as a parent or as a volunteer at the church. But that doesn't mean you're successful in life – because if your health, i.e. your life, is at risk, it all means very little.

It may be time to scale back on some of your responsibilities in order to get a handle on the stress you are experiencing.

Here are some signs that you are at risk of enduring the destructive physical effects of stress:

  • Do you feel like you're constantly working and in a hurry, and yet you never get anything done?
  • At the day's end, do you feel satisfied and accomplished, or do you just feel exhausted?
  • How many hours out of the week do you work? Is it regularly above 40?
  • How many hours do you put aside for rest and relaxation? Is it adequate to experience joy regularly with those you love?

These are just some things to ponder as you begin to assess the level stress that you are experiencing on a regular basis.

You are probably wondering what the physical effects of stress are. Some effects may be as minor as a tension headache every now and then. Other symptoms of stress are more alarming, as stress weakens your immune system you may find that you're falling ill frequently.

The really dangerous impact of stress is that you may develop cardiovascular problems, including deadly heart attack, that result from high stress.

So if you feel you're not really enjoying the moment you're in right now, and instead just feel anxious and stressed out about life, we would like to recommend that you read “The Joys of Living” by Dr. Orison Swett Marden?

Sometimes we just need to be reminded to sit down, relax, take a deep breath, and smell the roses.

Dr. Marden's inspiring and beautifully-written words from the 20th century may be just what you need in order to put your life in some perspective.

Fortunately, with the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can listen to Marden’s all-time classic teachings online!

So don't become another victim of the physical effects of stress. It's okay to ask for help.
