Physical Symptoms Of Stress
Don’t Stress Out, Break Out!

Article

Physical symptoms of stress should never be ignored. Too many Americans suffer from intense stress and don't realize that it takes a toll on not just their emotional wellbeing, but it also negatively affects their physical health.

If people knew that being stressed out could make them ill or cause serious health issues, they'd probably not be as eager to go from day to day under such pressure.

When we're stressed about a deadline or whatever the case may be, we may think that the adrenaline rush we get from stress is motivating us to succeed. Thus we might deem it a good thing.

However, when one understands and becomes aware of the physical symptoms of stress, we can begin to think about stress differently.

We then see it as a hindrance – something that prevents us from not only being happy and relaxed, but also as something that makes it even more difficult for us to accomplish short-term tasks and long-term goals.

We're hardly effective at the office if we have to take a bunch of sick days in order to recuperate from nagging colds and bouts of flu and other illnesses.

So what are the physical symptoms of stress? Answer the following questions to see what physical symptoms of stress you suffer from.

  • Do you feel fatigued even though you got at least eight hours of sleep the other night?
  • Do you have an increased or decreased appetite?
  • Has your eating and sleeping schedule changed?
  • Do you feel lower back aches often?
  • Do you get stomach aches and/or headaches often?
  • Do you get sick often?
  • Are you often in a state of fear or worry?
  • Do you suffer from anxiety attacks?
  • Do you easily become panicked?
  • Is you “instinct” to assume the worst will occur?
  • Is you “self-talk” negative or positive?

The physical symptoms of stress occur because stress weakens our immune system. It also increases our heart rate and can put us at risk for life-threatening cardiovascular problems like heart attack.

If you can't handle the stress in your life, it's time to ask for help. A self-help author who might be of service is 20th century thinker Dr. Orison Swett Marden.

Dr. Marden was an expert on freeing one's mind and manipulating its thoughts so as to pave the way for success in life.

Stress is typically a reaction to the worry, panic and fear that flood our thoughts – so in order to cure it, we must change the way we think.

Dr. Marden wrote books like “Self-Investment,” which help to express this overall message by asserting that the most important changes we must make in our lives are to commit to ongoing and continuous self improvement and personal development.
