Purpose Of Assessments
Look Inside, Opportunity Abounds!

Article

What is the purpose of assessments? This may seem like a strange question, but if you haven't given it much thought up to this point, then you've probably missed a great opportunity to find a clear path in life.

After all, how are you to move from Point A to Point B, if you don't really know what reserves you have locked up within you an and what specific goals you want to achieve? (Very few goals are impossible if you understand the power of your inner reserves.)

Dr. Orison Swett Marden founded the success movement in America in the early 20th century.

He authored dozens of books about how to find happiness and direction in life and one of his most treasured was “Round Pegs in Square Holes,” where he helped readers figure out their potential and consequentially, live up to it.

Dr. Marden was a firm believer in taking the time to assess your life. What does this mean?

The purpose of assessments, in his point of view, was to determine where you fit into the world. He often lamented about how sad it was when an individual still didn't really know what they wanted to do in life, after already living it through midway.

This kind of mid-life crisis was just inexcusable! Why? Well, if they had simply recognized the powerful purpose of assessments, they probably would have begun the journey they were meant to travel a long time ago.

Dr. Marden urged readers to consistently aspire to achieve higher ideals and a good way to do that was to recognize the purpose of assessments. You're probably still a bit confused. That's okay – let's talk about it more depth.

An assessment is simply a way to gage your abilities, talents, skills, and use this new information to plot your true course in life.
