Selected Quotes From: Round Pegs In Square Holes
| "No, do not deceive yourself. It is only small men who are ashamed of humble callings. Some of the greatest characters that ever lived are shoemakers and blacksmiths. The man is everything; the calling, provided it is necessary, matters comparatively little."
"Postive men and women with forceful wills can even make a great many mistakes, sometimes serious ones, and yet in a lifetime accomplish infinitely more than the timid character who never dares to push ahead or to make a mistake."
"You need not always be an employee. Just register your vow right now not to remain in one place all your life. Register your vow to rise, to prepare yourself for the place about you. A superb preparation for the job above you will open the door to it."

Excerpt From the Self-Help Classic... Round Pegs In Square Holes
| "HERE IS A GOOD EPITAPH which would fit many a failure: 'Gambled his life away because he never decided what to do with it.' Is it not pitiable to see people half way though life who have not yet decided what they are fitted for! On every had we see people who have accepted the precious gift of life with ten thousand obligations to make the most of it, and yet have let one-half of their precious years slip by, without making good. They have let their impressionable years go by without preparing for anything worthwhile. Not having expected much of themselves, they have gone from one thing to another, wavering, never quite making up their minds what they were going to do.
Every line of endeavor is overcrowded to the weak and irresolute. Those who lack backbone cannot find an opening or make one anywhere.
Don't you see, my wavering friend, plenty of young men climbing up rapidly in the very specialty you desire to enter, but which seems so crowded to you? If others can climb above the crowd of a dollar-a-day man and gain their way to something better, why can't you? There is a big difference between the man who hesitates and says he 'may try' to do a thing, and the man who firmly decides and says he 'will' do it.
It is not enough to resolve to be somebody, you must determine to be somebody with all your might, with all your enthusiasm, with all your strength, all your energy. You must be all there; you must fling your whole life into your occupation.
There are millions of youths who wish to be somebody; many who long to be somebody; but only now and then do we find a youth who is determined to be somebody with all his might to win at all hazards.
The youth who starts out to play the life game, just as professional athletes play their chosen sport, does not fail. Nature has armed you with some faculty, some quality, some force which enables you to do one thing better than anyone else. Your business is to discover what that thing is and then to discover its worth to society."
