Sorrow And Sadness?
Go For Happiness Instead

Article

Many of us battle moments of sorrow and sadness, but a growing number are experiencing more serious issues such as anxiety or depression.

However, the good news is that depression should not be a permanent fixture and there is something we can do to rid ourselves of harmful thoughts of hopelessness.

Obviously, many life events can contribute to stress and depression – being fired from a job, experiencing the death of a loved one, becoming seriously ill, etc.

Other people, however, may suffer from depression for no obvious reason. Perhaps they have a chemical imbalance they are unaware of or perhaps they've simply lost their way in life and after repeated failed attempts they find it too difficult to experience joy in their life.

These are just some of the reason why people are sometimes plagued with feelings of sorrow and sadness? But the truth is – living in depression is no way to live.

If you want to say goodbye to sorrow and sadness, and replace those feeling with joy and optimism, you can! And Dr. Orison Swett Marden can help.

Dr. Marden could have easily fallen victim to his horrible circumstances. He was born into poverty and was orphaned at the tender age of nine. He then bounced around from foster home to foster home and was mistreated by the adults who were supposed to care for him.

It’s understandably difficult for many to believe this same boy ended up with a degree from Harvard University and became one of the most popular authors of the 19th century.

In fact, not only was he a successful writer, he also founded Success magazine, and become know for also introducing the success movement, and New Thought philosophy, to America.

Many average, hard working, Americans at the time, during the late 1800’s, didn't know how to put their individual freedoms to work, and Dr. Marden was determined to show them the way.

At the core of his teachings was a message that no matter how poor or disadvantaged a person was, they had no limits to what they could achieve.

Stress, anxiety, sorrow and sadness, depression – all of these things are symptoms of a life that doesn't have purpose and meaning. By defining goals in your life, you're already a step ahead of the general population.

In Dr. Marden's books, like “The Young Man Entering Business” (which gives aspiring business people motivation and hands-on tools for success), he taught that good character was invaluable to a happy and successful life and the man with lots of money was not necessarily happier and more successful than his poorer neighbor.

Still, Dr. Marden also taught that financial success was a typical product of good character and strong will power.

If you'd like to discover more of Dr. Marden's message, or you just want to replace your own feelings of sorrow and sadness, with feeling of joy, optimism and happiness, you can listen to his most notable work by getting, risk free, the Leadership Series For Successful Living.
