Stress Affects Your Body & Mind
Article
Whether you like it or not, stress affects your body. Although stress might motivate you to make it to work on time and make that important deadline, gone unchecked, it can be terribly damaging to not only your emotional well-being, but also your physical health.
People often forget that stress affects every aspect of your life and thus, relaxation and the occasional vacation are more beneficial to you than just the obvious escape from the everyday hassles of life.

This time off, in fact, should be seen as a personal investments in your health and your future.
Dr. Orison Swett Marden died in 1924, but he was the leading self-help expert of his time. He realized early on that stress negatively affects your body, mind and spirit and a person without stress was a happier and healthier person and thus had more energy and zest for life.
Ultimately, the one who was able to cope and manage daily stress most effectively became more successful as a result. But Dr. Marden also realized that success wasn't something that could be so easily quantified and the person with the most impressive bank account may not be the person with the most successful life.
Stress can lead to all kinds of adverse outcomes – like weight gain, exhaustion, depression, anxiety and various types of panic disorders. In extreme cases, deadly heart problems or even suicide can stem from stress.
If you worked all your life to afford that beautiful home and car, what will it matter if you lived a life of struggle and stress, rather than peace and happiness? And what will it matter if you put your health at risk on a daily basis by not managing stress effectively?
Dr. Marden taught that an optimistic outlook on life was the key to happiness and worry was not only unproductive, but counterproductive.
Worrying about the future only leads to stress in your life – and little else. Planning for the future and working your plan, although still strenuous activities, do not cause the type of stress that fear, worry and anxiety does.
In other words, taking action can lessen your stress because you know your work is counting for something that you are passionate about.
Stress affects your body, mind, and spirit and is like a poison that will only grow with time if you do not purposefully take ownership of, and manage the events around you.
In Dr. Marden's book “Cheerfulness As A Life Power,” the message that those who appreciate today and look forward to tomorrow are not only happier people, but also people who attract success – is a powerful one.
Now that you know how stress affects your body, wouldn't you like to find the motivation to succeed in life from other sources?
How about if your joy for life and hope for what it holds for you motivated you to succeed on a daily basis? Wouldn’t that be an amazing replacement for the typically empty pressures of meeting the next company deadline?
