Stress In The Workplace
Joy Is The Best Measure Of Success

Article

Do you deal with stress in the workplace on a daily basis?
Stress is an overwhelming problem in America that ruins lives and even threatens some people’s longevity.

The problem is many people don't realize this. They think the heart disease they have, or the frequent fatigue they struggle with, and the illnesses they fall victim too often - are just typical obstacles in their life.

However, more often than not, these are stress-related problems.

Stress:

  • weakens the immune system
  • increases heart rate
  • decreases metabolism

Not only does stress affect your state of mind and emotional wellbeing, but it can have severe effects on your health. Why has stress increased in America? WORK, of course!

Stress in the workplace is on the rise. There are many things you can say about Americans, but one thing you can't say is they aren't hard workers.

Americans are spending more and more time at the office with every passing year, pursuing those big incomes and prestigious careers. But as hinted at before, the cost of following the money may end up being too much.

Stress in the workplace is a common affliction, but it is not one that should be taken lightly. In addition, it is not something that you have to accept as an unavoidable given.

Dr. Orison Swett Marden, author of such classic books as “Making Yourself,” would have shook his head at this phenomenon of stress in the workplace.

That's because he believed a job should be a source of happiness, a dream fulfilled – not just a source of income! It is this attitude that we must adopt if we want to have peace in the workplace, rather than stress. Home shouldn't be an escape from work – and work should never be an escape from home. There should be a harmonious balance to both, as both are to be fully enjoyed if one is to be truly happy.

If you don't know Dr. Marden well, it's probably best that you get acquainted with him right away. As you probably are a hard working person, it can be difficult to find the time to get to know the teachings of a historic figure.

However, don’t discount how important and life changing such an endeavor might be. Thanks to the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can download and listen to five of his most cherished books.

So, why not check it out today? Maybe as a result, you'll walk into work with a smile on your face for the first time in a very long time.

If you can't seem to ever muster up a genuine smile on your face, it might be time for a job change. You shouldn't just be paying the bills – you should be following your dreams!
