Stress Quotes
What Are Others Saying?

Article

Have you ever read stress quotes? We so often read inspiring literature or quotes about how to find happiness, wealth, self-enlightenment and a slew of other great personal qualities.

But rarely is stress ever addressed head on in these kinds of quotes – whether from famous people or out of self-help books.

Leadership Quote

"The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today's work superbly well."

- Sir William Osler

So here is an article to give you a little inspiration and wisdom and humor all with one theme: stress.

What is stress? What does it mean for you?

Stress quotes to think about:

Over the years your bodies become walking autobiographies, telling friends and strangers alike of the minor and major stresses of your lives.
- Marilyn Ferguson

Throw out an alarming alarm clock. If the ring is loud and strident, you're waking up to instant stress. You shouldn't be bullied out of bed, just reminded that it's time to start your day.
- Sharon Gold

Before you agree to do anything that might add even the smallest amount of stress to your life, ask yourself: What is my truest intention? Give yourself time to let a yes resound within you. When it's right, I guarantee that your entire body will feel it.
- Oprah Winfrey

If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn't ask me, I'd still have to say it.
- George Burns

Small minds are much distressed by little things. Great minds see them all but are not upset by them.
- Francois de La Rochefoucauld

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble; that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.
- Thomas Paine

He who endeavors to serve, to benefit, and improve the world, is like a swimmer, who struggles against a rapid current, in a river lashed into angry waves by the winds. Often they roar over his head, often they beat him back and baffle him. Most men yield to the stress of the current... Only here and there the stout, strong heart and vigorous arms struggle on toward ultimate success.
- Albert Pike

And finally, the last of the stress quotes:

Our mental attitude has everything to do with our ultimate success or failure. Holding the right thought, with the constant, vigorous affirmation of our ability to do the thing we are trying to do, to become the man or the woman we are trying to become, is the secret of all success.
- Orison Swett Marden

(This last of the above stress quotes is an excerpt from Dr. Marden's “Conquest of Worry,” a great book about stress and how to relieve it in your life. You can listen to more of Dr. Marden with the Leadership Series For Successful Living, where you can download five of his books for audio!)

Hopefully these stress quotes did the opposite of stressing you out!
