Student Stress
What’s Your Grade?

Article

Student stress – the worries and concerns and fears that only a high school or college student can relate to.

Many older people will say that the years of youth are the best years. But for those who are young, this can seem an unsettling idea.

If you're a high school or university student battling stress and depression, the last thing you want to hear is that you have nothing to look forward to – that this is as good as it gets.

Student stress is a reality and frankly, most adults have forgotten about it or perhaps they grew up in an environment where they didn't experience it.

Today, students at both high school and college are dealing with an incredible amount of pressure from teachers, parents, coaches, friends, etc.

Never before has admission to college been so competitive and never before as it been so necessary to get a college degree. All this leads to student stress.

The various effects of stress can become completely overwhelming. From causing minor headaches to serious illnesses, stress is not something to brush off as normal and acceptable. If you find yourself cracking under the pressures of life, there is hope.

There is somebody who remembers what it was like to be young and worried about the future. That man is Dr. Orison Swett Marden. Although he died in the mid 1920's, he had the youth of America in mind when he published his series of self-help books.

Marden wanted to introduce America’s young people to new ideas; ideas of hope, joy, optimism; fueling their ambition and passions; giving them focus and drive to follow their dreams.

In his book “Every Man a King,” Dr. Marden specifically tackled the issue of worry. He asserted that “worry” was a futile exercise and not worthy of anyone’s time. He encouraged readers to replace worry with action, that they really did have the power to change their thinking, and thus their life.

So, if you find that your brain is flooded with worry and doubt that simply paralyzes you, why not give Dr. Marden’s teachings a listen? With the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can hear his most notable life lessons on audio in a convenient, easy to download audiobook.

Kiss that student stress goodbye and learn how to be happy inside and outside the classroom. Stress and success are not friends – they are mutually exclusive!

Remember that there are other resources as well. Your high school or university will have counseling available to you. It always helps to talk to someone.
