- Breaking the law – petty theft or worse
- Expressing morbid thoughts about death and/or suicide – whether through poetry, art, or any other form of communication
- Withdrawing from activities and hobbies they used to enjoy
- Difficulty maintaining friendships
Whether your youth is battling mild or severe depression, you should seek outside help. Talking to your teen with understanding and honesty is important. But is he or she is experiencing the above symptoms of anxiety and depress, they may be in need of therapy and possibly even medication.
Teens tend to focus squarely on the negative when they do not have a better option.
Introducing your child to additional options that provide a more positive message may do wonders in improving their demeanor.
