Teacher Stress
Educate The Educator

Article

Only a teacher understands what teacher stress really amounts to. Indeed, of the entire list of stresses one can face in life, that of being a teacher must belong in a category all by itself.

They say parenting is one of the most challenging and difficult endeavors one can endure – so what if your job is to take care of not just one or two or three children, but ten to thirty at any given hour? Now that's stress!

Children are about as unpredictable as they are charming. It takes a special kind of person to take on the responsibility to prepare them for the world and help them become outstanding members of society.

If our future is our children, then it is crucial we help our teachers do the best jobs they can.

This article addresses teacher stress; something that if not properly treated can greatly hinder the learning experience. Teachers of all ages must deal with different kinds of stress, so there is not any single remedy that every teacher can take advantage of. But here's a bit of information on teacher stress regardless.

What makes teacher stress so unique from other forms of stress is a teacher may feel as though he or she is going to crack under the pressure, but not in the confines of an office, but instead in front of a room full of impressionable youths.

Thus, a teacher must learn a tremendous amount of patience and self-control. There has actually been a lot of research about teachers and work-related stress that would benefit every leader on the planet.

However, there is one resource you may want to use right away. Dr. Orison Swett Marden was one of the leading advocates of higher education in the 1900's when he was publishing his self-help library of resource material. (It was said that during his 30-year writing career, he published two books a year!)

Dr. Marden's message of maintaining strength and endurance day to day by thinking positively was one that was designed for every individual, teachers and businessmen and young people alike.

For example, his inspirational book “The Miracle of Right Thought” imparts the very simple idea that if one wants to be successful at something, he or she simply has to expect success.

This is a crucial lesson for anybody who plans on going into a classroom and facing more than a dozen unique youths – and thus, a dozen unique challenges.

If you want to see what else Dr. Marden may have to offer you, listen to five of his classic books online with the Leadership Series For Successful Living!
