Looking for treatment for depression and anxiety? It's difficult to write an article that has only one broad piece of advice for those who are suffering from emotional problems like depression and anxiety. Some people have such severe depression, they cannot escape from it without the help of medication and therapy. Others simply need to rest more and eat better foods to overcome their dark and dreary days. As well, depression and anxiety – while they often seem to bother a person all at once – are very different. So, instead of giving only one piece of advice, here is an introduction to the varieties of treatment for depression and anxiety. Depending on how mild your case is and the specifics of what's causing your issue (is it an event or a chemical imbalance or all of the above?) – you will find different kinds of treatment for depression and anxiety more suitable than others. The Natural Approach (Best) Dr. Orison Swett Marden probably had the most sage advice for this approach. In books like “You Can, But You Will,” published in the early 1900's, Dr. Marden encouraged readers to rethink their lives and as a result, change them for the better. He aggressively sought to free people from their worries and fears, which tended to overtake their lives and prevent them from achieving the goals they secretly wanted to achieve. Dr. Marden also helped instill the logic in the American people that their physical bodies affected their moods and their general attitude toward life. So, in this sense, someone who is suffering from depression and/or anxiety can alter some choices like diet and sleep and also work to change some thinking habits - and they may be completely cured from their negative outlook on life, at least over a period of time! With the Leadership Series For Successful Living, you can listen to Dr. Marden's classic books online for more tips like these. Therapy Talking to a licensed therapist is always a top suggestion for those suffering from anxiety and depression. In addition to taking steps to deal with the issues on your own time (like meditation and keeping a diary, or listening to self help tapes), talking about your concerns with a counselor can make a grand difference in your life and may be what is necessary to help you get it back on track. Medication For some people, medication is a great resource for them to help fight their depression and/or anxiety. This treatment for depression and anxiety should be accompanied with other treatments as well! Too often people mistake medication as their path to a cure. It is not! Medication can be a good tool, however, to treat the impact of the symptoms while you work on the more root causes of your illness. Whatever you do, take ownership of what you are feeling and take immediate action to determine what it is that you need to do to overcome these issues. Once you do, the world is truly yours.
