Treatments For Anxiety And Depression
Roles & Responsibilities Mount

Article

Treatments for anxiety and depression are becoming more sought after by women. We constantly see television commercials about the latest medicine to hit the pharmacy shelves, which will surely chase all our worries and fears away.

Certainly medical treatment is sometimes necessary for people suffering from depression, but is there really such a quick fix as that? The short answer is: not normally.

Women these days endure a type of stress that men simply cannot relate to.

This is something American self-help author Dr. Orison Swett Marden figured out in the early 1900's – as he was several steps ahead of the rest of society.

In his classic book “Woman and Home,” he discusses how a woman's job at home is never-ending and wildly under appreciated, while a man's job – in comparison – is easier and often more convenient. The notion that he “supports” his wife is overblown and misleading.

“Woman and Home” is still helpful for readers today. This is because it's even more relevant! Although the typical female role has changed over the years, most women still are the nurturing parents who do most of the domestic chores. However, there is an added facet to this, which might explain why so many women need treatments for anxiety and depression.

Today, women are attending college more than men and they have new freedoms to pursue whatever career and passion they choose. It is not surprising at all that a woman would want to take advantage of the 21st century progression.

However, they still often maintain those old, traditional roles. This can be confusing and not to mention – laborious – for the typical woman. Hence, treatments for anxiety and depression are a hot commodity among women.

So, as a woman, what can you do to find treatments for anxiety and depression? Talk to your doctor about the symptoms you experience – he or she will be able to point you in the right direction.

But the most important thing that you ought to realize is it's okay to ask for help and you are doing the right thing by recognizing that you may require a bit of assistance.
