There are many ways to deal with stress, and there are also many kinds of stress! If you want to eliminate worry and anxiety in your life, you have to find out where it's coming from and why. After all, maybe you can get a back massage and forget about your next deadline for thirty minutes or so. Yeah right, and what about afterwards? What about when your boss assigns you another big, overwhelming task? What will you do then? Of all the ways to deal with stress, the most effective ways are the ones that require you to confront yourself. Confront your negative thought patterns. Confront choices in your lifestyle that may not be the healthiest for you. Confront those big demons that you've been trying to avoid! Stress is not just something that happens when we're rushing around in a hurry; it's something that all too commonly plagues us from day to day, and even hour to hour – building strength against us over time. It can be caused by a one-time event or it can be so chronic as to seem almost inescapable to us. It is this latter kind that is the trickiest and most detrimental to both our emotional and physical health. So, let's get to it. What are some simple ways to deal with stress? In the short term, there are obvious techniques such as taking time out for bubble baths; engaging in a fun, relaxing hobby on a regular basis; saying “no” to more responsibilities; going on vacation: planning a date night with you and your significant other every week, etc. However, what are some more serious ways to deal with stress that will have long-term positive effects? One easy way to deal with stress head on is to actively keep a journal. Sometimes the best thing we can do is releasing our troubling thoughts from our mind and down on paper. Then we can sort through them; make sense of them, and finally deal with them! The best way to rid stress from our lives, is to cut it off at the source.
