What Causes Stress?
The Answer Is Always The Same

Article

Very few people know what causes stress in their lives. Do you? If you did, you probably would know exactly what to do to eradicate it and it's doubtful you'd be reading an article like this.

That's okay though. You are not unlike most other Americans these days who are constantly busy with work and family and other activities that they hardly have enough time to stop and smell the roses.

If you find that your day-to-day routine is consumed with worries, fears, hardships, and little else, then stress has become too big of a player in your life.

Certainly, stress is necessary to an extent and it will always kick in during certain moments of your life. For too many Americans, however, stress is simply not tolerable. It not only has taken a toll on their spirit, but it has put their physical health at risk.

More people are enduring panic attacks, heart attacks, and frequent illnesses or a chronic disease because of mounting stress. So what causes stress that plagues you and threatens to ruin your life?

What causes stress in our lives that is becoming so hazardous to our health?

The answer is surprisingly the same for everybody. Stress is merely our mind and body's reaction to an event or situation.

While there are events and situations that commonly trigger stress, like a move; a change of job; a wedding or the loss of a loved one - it's really our individual reactions to life that cause the amount of stress that we actually experience.

This is a revealing and helpful thing to know. It means you can empower yourself to control the amount of stress you allow yourself to feel. You can take back control of your life!

Consider this for a moment. You can either breed negative thoughts with more negative thoughts – and nurture stress in your life, or you can choose to be proactive, as opposed to reactive, and tackle head on that which causes stress in your life.

,b>Remaining proactive and optimistic that things will work in your favor goes a long way to minimize the stress you may feel otherwise.

Do you have a work environment that is too hurried for you? Either learn to incorporate a relaxation activity into your daily routine that can calm you down or find a new job. The latter is not as impossible as you might think! In fact, it might be the best decision you ever made in life.

Dr. Orison Swett Marden wrote in his classic book “Success Fundamentals,” that people who were happy were simply people who followed a purpose in life – these people are confident that the goals and dreams they chase after are worthwhile.

As a result, they don’t toil away at meaningless tasks and let their minds become overwhelmed with worry and fear.

If you want to be more like the happy, successful person who leads a purposeful existence, then listen to Dr. Marden's audio series, the Leadership Series For Successful Living.
